ABOUT
I'm Kerryn Moolenschot, or simply Kers, a South African artist living and working in London, UK.
I have been scribbling since I could hold a pencil. My maternal granny would give me the notepad from her handbag in church to distract me or I would sit in my grandpa Tino's lap whilst he painted outdoors at his customised portable easel in the South African veld. I found colouring-in books too restrictive as a child - give me a blank page any day.
I studied art in school with my final piece being displayed in the Tatham Art Gallery, Pietermaritzburg, SA, and then studied animation after school. I then took a sabbatical of a decade, focusing on my career in dietetics, only dabbling with the occasional sketch or painting before deciding to return to focused painting in order to create the Out of Africa exhibition for Cass Art's Art Space in Kingston, London 2018. And so Kersart was born.
I love the use of loose brushwork to create movement and bold colours in my work. I aim to bring a tingle of life and nature to the viewer.
For originals, commissions or prints, and any questions about the artwork please get in touch.
